Michael John Durovic has excelled in the insurance and risk management field for more than 30 years, most recently serving as vice president of claims services at Slide Insurance Company from 2022 to 2026. In this capacity, he was responsible for field adjusting, vendor management, and mitigation review. Additionally, he was an active member of the executive committee that oversees Lighthouse Property Insurance Corporation, which operates in Louisiana, Texas, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina, as well as Lighthouse Excalibur, a Louisiana company. He now lends his expertise as a consultant in risk management, insurance, vendor management, and restoration for numerous clients.

Attributing his success to continuous learning, Mr. Durovic earned a Bachelor of Science in engineering and management from Clarkson University in 1992, launching his career as a multi-line adjuster at Fort Orange Claims Unlimited Services and Arbitrage Adjusting Services, Inc. from 1994 to 1997. He subsequently became a claim specialist at State Farm Insurance from 1997 to 2002, and for the next decade, he was active as a unit supervisor at Cunningham Lindsey and a claim analyst at American Integrity Insurance Company.

In the lead-up to his role at Slide Insurance Company, Mr. Durovic found success as the executive vice president at Pharos Claims Service from 2013 to 2022, and as the director of claims at both Lighthouse Property Insurance Company and Prepared Insurance Company from 2013 to 2019. During this stretch of time, he also bolstered his credentials by attaining a Master of Science in Management in risk management and insurance from the College of Business at Florida State University in 2015, an institution where he still serves as a mentor in the program, working with students to help develop their skills. He followed up this accomplishment with a Bachelor of Applied Science in business and organizational leadership from Valencia College in 2020.

In addition to his primary endeavors, Mr. Durovic has lent his expertise to several written works in the field, including “Education and the Looming Talent Gap” in 2016 and “Homeowners: Here’s What To Expect From a Water Mitigation Contractor” and “Understanding the Claims Process: What to Do When Your Home is Damaged” in 2019. Also committed to civic involvement and service, he has had seven years of volunteer work with ALK.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Durovic is considering starting an insurance agency. On the volunteer side, he wants to be more active on advisory boards and enjoys mentoring and training people. Professionally, he aims to transfer his extensive industry knowledge to as many people as possible, helping them develop through his board work and interactions with colleagues and industry contacts. To those entering the field, he advised, “Be curious. Try and understand why something works the way it does. Don’t just do something because somebody told you to do it. Find what interests you.”

There, he managed operations and insurance claims for companies within the enterprise and drove organizational growth. Notably, Mr. Durovic’s substantial tenure at Pharos Claims Service informed his understanding of claims management and vendor relations.

From 2017 to 2019, Mr. Durovic served as the director of claims at Prepared Insurance Company. In this capacity, he collaborated with his team to handle complex claims processes and implement best practices that improved efficiency and elevated customer satisfaction rates. Concurrently, from 2013 to 2019, Mr. Durovic was the director of claims at Lighthouse Property Insurance Corporation, where he contributed to the expansion and operational advancement of the organization.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Durovic worked as a claim analyst at American Integrity Insurance Company from 2010 to 2013, where he evaluated and processed insurance claims while confirming compliance with industry standards. From 2003 to 2010, he served as a unit supervisor at Cunningham Lindsey, managing teams of adjusters and playing a key role in training and development. Mr. Durovic’s foundational experience includes work as a claim specialist at State Farm Insurance between 1997 and 2002, where he refined his skills in risk assessment and customer service, and he served as a multi-line adjuster at both Arbitrage Adjusting Services Inc. from 1996 to 1997 and Fort Orange Claims Unlimited Services from 1994 to 1996.

Mr. Durovic is a recognized expert in risk management, insurance operations, vendor management and restoration services. His commitment to professional development and productive networking is reflected in his active membership with the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter Society and past involvement with the Personal Lines Interest Group and Order of Omega Greek Leadership Honor Society. Influenced by prominent leaders such as Patrick White, the owner of the companies with whom Mr. Durovic currently works, he has embraced servant leadership principles that prioritize people development and organizational growth, and Mr. Durovic further acknowledges the mentorship and impact of Teresa Hauer, Kat Gallego, Brian Jones, Simon Sinek and Robert Heath Jr.

Beyond his professional roles, Mr. Durovic has demonstrated a strong commitment to civic engagement and mentorship. He continues to give back to his alma mater, working closely with students to help develop future leaders in the field as a risk management and insurance mentor at Florida State University’s College of Business since 2016. He is also proud to have been involved with AOK between 2013 and 2022, offering support to young adults aging out of foster care by providing educational assistance, counseling and job interview preparation assistance.

Mr. Durovic’s contributions have been recognized through several awards, including the Commendable Service Award, the I.
